Chinese Dairy Imports Update – Jul ’15
According to GTIS, Jun ’15 total Chinese dairy import volumes remained weak, finishing down 14.1% YOY. Total Chinese dairy import volumes have declined YOY for ten consecutive months at an average rate of 28.5% over the period. Total Chinese dairy import volumes did increase 2.6% MOM on a daily average basis, consistent with the ten year average May – June seasonal increase in total dairy import volumes of 3.2%. Total dairy import volumes remained at the second highest level experienced during the month of June, trailing only 2014 levels.
Jun ’15 whole milk powder (WMP) imports were particularly weak, finishing down 54.0% MOM on a daily average basis and 71.8% YOY to a seven year low for the month of June. Skim milk powder (SMP) imports increased 18.2% MOM on a daily average basis but remained lower on a YOY basis, finishing down 10.8%.
