Within Argentina, the political climate bears heavily on developments in the agricultural sector. Newly elected president Mauricio Macri promptly took measures to jumpstart Argentina’s economy by improving agricultural trade conditions since taking office in Dec ’15, positioning Argentina to increase milk production and dairy exports over coming years. Argentine milk production is expected to increase moderately throughout 2016, however with approximately a quarter of product historically heading to export markets, any increases in production will put additional pressure on already over-supplied global dairy markets.
