Planting Progress Update – 10/24/16
According to USDA, corn and soybean harvest paces remained behind previous years through the week ending Oct 23rd.
Corn:
The corn harvest stood at 61% completed through the week ending Oct 23rd, behind the previous year’s harvest pace of 70% and the five year average pace of 62%.
An additional 15% of the total U.S. corn crop was harvested during the week ending Oct 23rd. Weekly increases in the corn crop harvest on a percentage basis were led by Minnesota, followed by Colorado and Montana.
Soybeans:
The soybeans harvest stood at 76% completed through the week ending Oct 23rd, behind the previous year’s harvest pace of 84% but even with the five year average pace of 76%.
An additional 14% of the total U.S. soybean crop was harvested during the week ending Oct 23rd. Weekly increases in the soybean crop harvest on a percentage basis were led by Kansas, followed by Wisconsin and Missouri.
