Planting Progress Update – 10/31/16
According to USDA, corn and soybean harvest paces remained behind the previous year but even or ahead of five year average paces through the week ending Oct 30th.
Corn:
The corn harvest stood at 75% completed through the week ending Oct 30th, behind the previous year’s harvest pace of 82% but even with the five year average pace of 75%.
An additional 14% of the total U.S. corn crop was harvested during the week ending Oct 30th. Weekly increases in the corn crop harvest on a percentage basis were led by Minnesota, followed by Iowa and Nebraska.
Soybeans:
The soybeans harvest stood at 87% completed through the week ending Oct 30th, behind the previous year’s harvest pace of 91% but ahead of the five year average pace of 85%.
An additional 11% of the total U.S. soybean crop was harvested during the week ending Oct 30th. Weekly increases in the soybean crop harvest on a percentage basis were led by Kansas, followed by Kentucky, Wisconsin and Michigan.
