Crop Progress Update – 7/2/18
According to USDA, seasonal good-to-excellent crop conditions remain at or near long-term record highs through the week ending Jul 1st.
Corn:
Corn silking as of the week ending Jul 1st was 17% complete, finishing ahead of last year’s pace of 9% and the five year average pace of 8%.
A total of 76% of the corn crop was in good or excellent condition as of the week ending Jul 1st, down slightly from the previous week. Just 6% of the corn crop was identified as in poor or very poor condition.
The current seasonal good-to-excellent corn conditions were tied for the highest experienced throughout the past 19 years.
Soybeans:
Soybean bloomings as of the week ending Jul 1st were 27% complete, finishing ahead of last year’s pace of 17% and the five year average pace of 13%.
A total of 71% of the soybean crop was in good or excellent condition as of the week ending Jul 1st, down slightly from the previous week. Just 6% of the soybean crop was identified as in poor or very poor condition.
The current seasonal good-to-excellent soybean conditions were tied for the second highest experienced throughout the past 24 years.
