Crop Progress Update – 7/9/18
According to USDA, seasonal good-to-excellent crop conditions near long-term record highs through the week ending Jul 8th.
Corn:
Corn silking as of the week ending Jul 8th was 37% complete, finishing ahead of last year’s pace of 18% and the five year average pace of 18%.
A total of 75% of the corn crop was in good or excellent condition as of the week ending Jul 8th, down slightly from the previous week. Just 7% of the corn crop was identified as in poor or very poor condition.
The current seasonal good-to-excellent corn conditions were tied for the second highest experienced throughout the past 19 years.
Soybeans:
Soybean bloomings as of the week ending Jul 8th were 47% complete, finishing ahead of last year’s pace of 32% and the five year average pace of 27%.
A total of 71% of the soybean crop was in good or excellent condition as of the week ending Jul 8th, unchanged from the previous week. Just 7% of the soybean crop was identified as in poor or very poor condition.
The current seasonal good-to-excellent soybean conditions were tied for the second highest experienced throughout the past 24 years.
