U.S. Dairy Cow Slaughter Update – Sep ’19
Executive Summary
U.S. dairy cow slaughter figures provided by USDA were recently updated with values spanning through Aug ’19. Highlights from the updated report include:
- U.S. dairy cow slaughter rates increased seasonally to a four month high but declined on a YOY basis for the first time in the past 31 months, finishing down 2.7%.
- Aug ’19 MOM increases in dairy cow slaughter were led by Standard Federal Region 5 (Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Minnesota, Ohio and Wisconsin).
- Aug ’19 YOY declines in dairy cow slaughter were led by Standard Federal Region 9 (Arizona, California, Hawaii and Nevada).
