Crop Progress Update – 4/25/22
According to the USDA, corn and soybean planting progress each remained below five year average levels during the week ending Apr 24th.
Corn:
Corn plantings as of the week ending Apr 24th were seven percent complete, finishing behind last year’s pace of 16% completed and the five year average pace of 15% completed. Corn planting progress finished below analyst expectations of nine percent completed.
The majority of corn plantings have been completed throughout the states of Louisiana, Georgia, South Carolina, Texas, Alabama, Mississippi and North Carolina as of the week ending Apr 24th.
Corn emergence as of the week ending Apr 24th was two percent complete, finishing slightly behind last year’s pace of three percent completed and the five year average pace of three percent completed.
Soybeans:
Soybean plantings as of the week ending Apr 24th were three percent complete, finishing behind last year’s pace of seven percent completed and the five year average pace of five percent completed. Soybean planting progress finished equal to analyst expectations.
Soybean planting progress as of the week ending Apr 24th was led by Louisiana, followed by Texas and Mississippi.
